Taeyang of BIGBANG is set to release his fourth full-length solo album, QUINTESSENCE, on May 18.
On May 7, Taeyang unveiled the first teaser image for the upcoming album through his official social media accounts, immediately drawing attention from fans worldwide.
In the teaser image, Taeyang showcases a modern monochrome concept paired with bold fashion styling and eye-catching hair color, creating an intense atmosphere that perfectly highlights his unique charisma.
The word “Quintessence” refers to the “pure essence” or “true nature” of something, and Taeyang personally chose the title for the album himself.
Previously, he explained through social media, “It’s a word that has stayed in my heart for a long time, and I believe it’s something this era needs the most.”
The album is expected to portray a journey toward discovering that “essence.” Taeyang shared, “I hope that one day, everyone will be able to find it within themselves as well,” adding, “This is a story about the most important things in life, even though they are not always easy to see.”
This marks Taeyang’s first full-length solo album in approximately nine years. The release date, May 18, also coincides with his birthday, making fans view the album as a special gift for VIPs, the fandom of BIGBANG.
In addition to his solo activities, Taeyang is also preparing to continue group promotions with BIGBANG. The group is reportedly getting ready for a 20th anniversary world tour scheduled to begin in August.
Last month, Taeyang also performed at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in the United States, further proving his global presence as an artist.
