Korean Court Dismisses HYBE Labels' Lawsuit Against 7 YouTube Channels Over ILLIT Rumors
This afternoon (May 8), Seoul's Western District Court, 12th Civil Division, has dismissed the damage lawsuit filed by HYBE Labels against the YouTube channel FastView.
Earlier in 2024, HYBE Labels accused seven YouTube channels of continuously disseminating false information about ILLIT and demanded a total of approximately 280 million won, or about $200,000.
All five members of ILLIT and their agency BeLift Lab also took similar legal action.
However, the court recently ordered the dismissal of the case, ruling that HYBE must cover all legal costs associated with this lawsuit.
Previously, the FastView channel had published a video on YouTube accusing ILLIT of copying the ideas or styles of other artists and included comments about certain foods that were seen as derogatory and disparaging towards other artists.
Although the court ruled in favor of the dismissal, there have been no official details released regarding the legal reasoning behind the decision at this time.
