Jang Yoon Jung’s Mother Accused of Fraud After Allegedly Using Singer’s Name to Scam Victims
The mother of renowned trot singer Jang Yoon Jung has been accused of using her estranged daughter’s name to deceive victims in an alleged investment scam, according to a recent television report.
On June 30, the South Korean program Crime Chief (Sageon Banjang) aired a segment titled "Famous Singer’s Mother in Widespread Fraud Scheme," detailing allegations against a woman identified by the surname Yook.
According to the report, Yook met one of the victims at a Korean jjimjilbang (public sauna) before persuading the individual to invest money. She allegedly claimed that she could generate profits through the television audition program Miss Trot, where Jang Yoon Jung had served as a judge.
The victim reportedly continued communicating with Yook and transferred tens of millions of won, believing the investment opportunity was legitimate.
The report further alleged that Yook used two mobile phones to fabricate KakaoTalk conversations, making it appear as though Jang Yoon Jung herself had been sending messages. The fake conversations were allegedly used to strengthen the victim’s trust.
Suspicion eventually arose when the victim’s daughter noticed inconsistencies and reported the matter to the police.
During the investigation, authorities reportedly discovered another victim who claimed to have been targeted through the same method and had already filed a criminal complaint.
The program also obtained a statement from Jang Yoon Jung. Although the singer has refrained from speaking publicly about her mother for many years because they have been estranged, she said she decided to respond this time out of concern that additional victims could emerge.

Jang Yoon Jung stated:
“I have had no contact with my mother.”
The victim also reportedly acknowledged that Jang Yoon Jung herself had no involvement in the alleged fraud.
Police are currently investigating the case.
A Family Conflict That Has Lasted More Than a Decade
The conflict between Jang Yoon Jung and her mother and younger brother dates back more than ten years.
Ahead of her wedding in 2013, the singer revealed during an appearance on Healing Camp, Aren't You Happy that her parents’ divorce proceedings led her to discover that her entire fortune had disappeared and that she had been left responsible for debts worth hundreds of millions of won.
At the time, her mother and younger brother denied squandering her assets, insisting instead that they had lost contact with Jang Yoon Jung after she moved out of the family home.
Yook later contacted multiple media outlets herself to present her side of the family dispute.
She also filed a lawsuit against Jang Yoon Jung’s former agency, Inwoo Production, seeking the return of 700 million won that she claimed had been loaned.
However, the court ruled in favor of the agency, stating that although Yook had managed the singer’s finances, this did not give her legal ownership of the money.
In a separate civil case, Jang Yoon Jung also partially prevailed in a lawsuit against her younger brother seeking the return of a substantial amount of money.
As police continue their investigation into the latest allegations, many members of the public have expressed sympathy for Jang Yoon Jung, who once again finds herself connected to a family controversy despite maintaining that she has had no contact with her mother for many years.
