JANG DONG JOO Reportedly Faced Police Trouble Before Sudden Retirement Announcement

South Korean actor Jang Dong Joo is reportedly facing controversy after local media claimed that he became involved in a police-related incident just hours before announcing his sudden retirement from the entertainment industry.

According to an exclusive report released on May 16 KST, Jang Dong Joo allegedly visited an adult entertainment establishment in Banpo-dong, Seoul, on the night of May 14. Sources claimed that his expenses at the venue totaled around 3 million KRW (approximately $2,200 USD).

The report further stated that the actor told the establishment an acquaintance would pay the bill on his behalf and was additionally granted store credit worth around 10 million KRW. However, after no one arrived to settle the payment by approximately 3 AM on May 15, the establishment reportedly contacted the police.

An informant claimed that Jang Dong Joo was allowed to return home after promising to pay the total amount of 13 million KRW by 6 PM the following day. Shortly afterward, he uploaded a social media post announcing his retirement from acting.

Last year, the actor previously raised concerns among fans after posting a mysterious apology message before disappearing from social media for some time. Earlier this year, he also stated that he suffered financial losses worth billions of won after becoming a victim of phone hacking and blackmail.

In the early hours of May 15 KST, Jang Dong Joo wrote:

“As of today, I intend to lay down my life as actor Jang Dong Joo. Every moment spent smiling and crying in front of the camera will remain with me as the brightest moments of my life.”

As of now, multiple Korean media outlets have reportedly been unable to contact Jang Dong Joo, and it has not been confirmed whether his retirement announcement is related to the incident.
