Hyogyeong, Former Member of ARIAZ, Opens Up About Idol Life, Agency System, and Unfair Practices in the K-Pop Industry
Former ARIAZ member Hyogyeong is gaining significant attention after revealing her experiences in the idol industry, discussing internal issues within her agency, mounting debt, and unfair management practices.
Recently, Hyogyeong uploaded a video on her personal YouTube channel titled “As an Ex-Kpop Idol, Let's Talk About 'Sugar Daddies' (GRWM + What's in my bag)”. This “Get Ready With Me” style clip combined personal storytelling and has sparked hot discussions online due to shocking revelations made in the video.

In the video, Hyogyeong claims that the "center" position in the group was not determined by talent, popularity, or performance skills, but rather by relationships within the company. She pointed out that a member who allegedly had a romantic involvement with the agency's CEO was awarded the center position.
Hyogyeong further mentioned that such matters are considered “an open secret” in small entertainment agencies, and that most fans may not be aware of the reasons behind the positioning of group members.
Additionally, she spoke about the income system and financial structure during her time as an idol, stating that after about two and a half years in the group, she received her first income summary, which revealed accumulated debts rather than earnings.
According to her, various expenses, including pre-debut training, clothing, accommodation, and daily meals, were all recorded as debt in the name of the members.
Hyogyeong said, “In the end, everything is calculated as debt that the members must take responsibility for,” comparing the treatment of idols not as “workers” but more like “assets” of the company.
She admitted to hesitating for a long time before finally deciding to speak out publicly, but chose to share her story to prevent others from facing similar situations.
Hyogyeong debuted in October 2019 as a member of the six-member girl group ARIAZ under Rising Entertainment, a subsidiary of STAR EMPIRE, before the group disbanded in 2022 amid internal issues and controversies.
