TWICE Becomes First K-Pop Girl Group to Win at the American Music Awards

TWICE has made K-Pop history once again after becoming the first K-pop girl group ever to win an award at the American Music Awards (AMAs).

At the 2026 AMAs, held on May 25 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, TWICE won the trophy for “Best Female K-pop Artist,” marking a major milestone for both the group and the K-pop industry.

The American Music Awards is widely recognized alongside the Grammy Awards and Billboard Music Awards as one of the three biggest music award ceremonies in the United States, making the achievement even more significant.

This also marks TWICE’s very first AMA win after previously receiving nominations at the ceremony.

Since AMA winners are determined entirely through fan voting, many fans and industry observers believe the award further proves TWICE’s enormous global fandom power and international popularity.

The group is currently continuing its massive world tour, “THIS IS FOR,” which first began in Incheon, South Korea, last July.

The tour includes a total of 78 shows across 43 cities worldwide, making it one of the largest world tours in TWICE’s career.

TWICE’s North American leg, which concluded in April, featured:

• 35 concerts

• 20 cities

• A cumulative audience of 550,000 fans

The achievement officially set a new record for the largest North American tour attendance ever achieved by a K-pop girl group.

In Japan, TWICE also made history as the first overseas artist to hold concerts at Tokyo National Stadium, attracting a total of 240,000 fans across three days.

Now entering the 12th year since debut, TWICE continues expanding its global influence through its ongoing European tour.

The group has already completed performances in Lisbon, Barcelona, Paris, Turin, Berlin, Cologne and is scheduled to perform in Amsterdam on May 30 and 31.

Many fans are now praising TWICE not only as one of the most legendary girl groups in K-pop history, but also as one of the most influential Asian music acts on the global stage today.
